Y'shayahu / Isaiah 11:10 says: "And it shall come to pass on that day, that the root (descendant) of Jesse, which stands as a banner for peoples, to him shall the nations inquire, and his peace shall be [with] honor." All the nations of the world will come to know there is one G-d in the age of the real messiah -- this is the message of Y'shayahu / Isaiah 11:10, and it never happened with Jesus. During his lifetime Jesus never left the land of Judah (and the Galilee). John 12:18-21 says that some Greeks and other non-Jews sought Jesus out. . . big deal. While some non-Jews came looking for Jesus (per the Christian bible) this is true of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam and other religions as well. . . they have all attracted non-Jewish followers (e.g. גויים / goyim -- the nations, aka "gentiles"). Mohamed had Christian followers who became Muslims, Joseph Smith (founder of the Mormons) also had "gentiles" (Christians) who followed him. . . None of these fulfilled Y'shayahu / Isaiah 11:10. Yet again the list maker is taking something out of context -- the mere fact that SOME non-Jews followed Jesus does not fulfill the prophecies for the real messiah which states that ALL people will come to know the one true G-d (not just "some" as in Jesus' experience of having non-Jewish followers as did Mohamed, Joseph Smith and so many other religions). . . The real messiah will bring about global knowledge of G-d. (Y'shayahu / Isaiah 2:1-4, 32:15-18, 60:15-18; Y'rmiyahu / Jeremiah 31:33-34; Hoshea / Hosea 2:20-22; Amos 9:13-15; Micah 4:1-4; and Tzefaniah / Zephaniah 3:9; Zechariah 8:23, 14:9) which means all the gentiles will seek him, thus fulfilling Y'shayahu / Isaiah 11:10. Note that the list maker also conveniently excludes the very next sentence in Isaiah which begins with the word "and" (meaning it is all part of the same point). Y'shayahu / Isaiah 11:11 says "And it shall come to pass that on that day, the L-rd shall continue to apply His hand a second time to acquire the rest of His people, that will remain from Assyria and from Egypt and from Pathros and from Cush and from Elam and from Sumeria and from Hamath and from the islands of the sea."
A majority of Jews did not live in Judah 2000 years ago -- there were many Jews in Babylon, Egypt, Rome and other locations. They did not return to Judah during Jesus' lifetime, ergo he did not fulfill this prophecy. Indeed, within 40 years after Jesus' death the city of Jerusalem was burned and many Jews exiled. 100 years after Jesus' death the Romans exiled almost all of the Jews from the land of Judah and renamed it "Palestine" as a humiliation to the Jewish people (the name was for the Philistines, the great Jewish enemy). Jesus failed to fulfill this prophecy. To top all of that off, there was no peace -- with or without honor. " Another death knell to this possibly being about Jesus is the phrase the "root / descendant of Jesse." Christianity teaches that Jesus had no earthly biological father, and without Joseph (Mary's husband) being his father via his sperm impregnating his lawful wife (Mary) Jesus had no tribal status, and thus was not of the tribe of Judah, the tribe to which Jesse, David and Solomon all belonged. Isaiah is simply reminding us that the messiah will be descended from Kings David and Solomon. David was the son of Yishai / Jesse. Shumel 2 / 2 Samuel 23:1 which says “And these are the last words of David; the saying of David the son of Jesse, and the saying of the man raised on high (King David), the anointed (מְשִׁיחַ / messiah) of the G-d of Jacob (King David), And the sweet singer (King David) of Israel.” Y'shayahu / Isaiah 11:10 is stating that the messiah (and this is a messianic prophecy) will be a descendant of King David, who was the son of Jesse. Period. And this disqualifies Jesus from this prophecy. Unfortunately for the list maker and other missionaries. Jesus was not a "descendant of Jesse." The Christian bible gives two differing lineages for Joseph, and Luke says " He was the son, so it was thought, of Joseph." So it was thought. Which means he was NOT the son of Joseph, people just thought that he was. Per the Christian bible Jesus was not the son of Joseph, he was the biological son (supposedly) of the "holy spirit" -- aka G-d. Thus Luke's lineage of Joseph in chapter 3 and Matthews in chapter 1 are totally immaterial to Jesus who was not of the tribe of Judah, and thus not a descendant of Jesse (David or Solomon). Some missionaries will contort themselves to try to find a way to say Jesus was from David. Some will state that Mary, Jesus' mother, was a descendant of David's (and Jesse's). This is immaterial in Jewish law. The T'nach makes it clear that while being a Jew is passed to a child from its mother, tribal status is NOT. A woman's birth tribe is immaterial -- and it changes upon marriage. A woman become a member of her husband's tribe when she marries him. However, if a married woman gives birth to a child that is not the biological child of her husband that child has no tribal status (and the woman would be considered an adulteress). . . Some missionaries will suggest that Joseph (Jesus supposed father) "adopted" Jesus. Tribal status cannot be adopted -- it is only handed down at birth by having a Jewish mother and the father being a Jewish man of said tribe. Adoption in Judaism is not similar to western adoption -- the adopted child always retains its birth status tribally speaking. As a point of interest, Joseph himself was disqualified from kingship based on the two conflicting lineages given for him in the Christian bible. While both of Joseph's lineages include Jesse, one bypasses Solomon in favor of David's son Nathan (thus disqualifying Joseph and his heirs from being a messiah) and the other goes through the cursed line of Jeconiah who G-d cut off from future kingly lines (e.g. messiahship). . . In any case -- when read in context this passage does not fit Jesus, although it will one day fit the real messiah. Jesus was not of the line of Jesse, he did not usher in peace, and the entire world did not turn to the one true G-d thanks to Jesus' actions. . .
